Water Stress as a Threat to Human Security

Abstract

The security paradigm is constantly changing. The world is changing very fast and non-military issues are taking much more importance as compared to military and conventional race. Non-traditional security threats are the challenges to the individual's survival and well-being, such as climate change, food and water security, natural disasters, diseases, and irregular migration. Water security has taken a central position in an international forum. The paper discussed some major international issues such as population growth and pollution are altering the sharing of water reservoirs and political involvement over these resources is becoming a hot issue not only within states but also across borders. The methodology of the paper is qualitative analysis and data collection. Water as a natural resource may contribute to many security risks and threats that may cause a dispute’s intensification.  Security is a multidimensional approach that focuses on an individual's welfare and well-being. The research can conclude that the Improvement of policymaking in water management is also a very important factor for human security at the international level.
